How to root out the Ego - sloka 27-32
1 Gita Sloka every day - Chapter 3 -Karma Yoga - Sloka 31
Ye me matam idam nityam anutishthati manavah I
Shraddhavantah anasuyantah muchyante te pi karmabhih II sloka 31
ये मे मतं इदं नित्यं अनुतिष्ठति मानवाः ।
श्रद्धावन्तः अनसूयन्तः मुच्यन्ते ते पी कर्मभिः ।। श्लोक ३१
Those who ever abide in this teaching of mine, full of shraddha and free of cavilling, they too are released from actions.
A wayfarer is unable to find out by himself the intricate path to his destination. But he places faith on those who go that way and follows their instructions. By this means he is sure to achieve his end. A pilgrim in the path of spirituality is if mediocre understanding in that field. It is no disadvantage if he with shraddha entrusts himself to the adepts in yoga. Even he gets freed from the shackles of karma.
It is cavilling if one becomes intolerant of others obtaining what is not obtained by oneself. Merits in one, if any, get melted away if one is given to cavilling. Conversely, advancement if ensured for one delights in the prosperity of others.
Haughty people are those who deride the ignorance, credulity, and superstitions in others. They are proud of their own attainments. Such people hardly ever make any progress in spirituality. On the other hand, the humble and the meek who are ever dependent on the Lord, get over their defects, if any, very soon. The gracious Lord sees to it that his erring devotees come around soon.
