1 Gita Sloka every day - Chapter 2 - Samkhya Yoga - Sloka 35

Bhayat Ranat uparatam mamsyante tvam maharathah I
Yesham ca tvam bahumato bhutva yasyasi laghavam II sloka 35

भयात रणात उपरतं मंस्यन्ते त्वां महारथाः ।
येषां च त्वां बहुमतः भूत्वा  यास्यसि लाघवं ।। श्लोक ३५

The great warriors will think that you have fled from battle in fear. These men who held you in high esteem will speak lightly of you now.

Great warriors like Karna, Duryodhana etc. hitherto held you in high esteem as a heroic enemy. Now by refraining from battle when it has begun, you will appear to them as despicable and easily defeatable. These great warriors will think of you as withdrawing from battle out of fear.  Because turning away from battle doesnot happen in the case of brave enemies through affection etc., for relatives. It can happen only through fear of enemies.
