Swerve not from your Duty - 31-37
1 Gita Sloka every day - Chapter 2 - Samkhya Yoga - Sloka 33

Atha chet tvam imam dharmyam sangramam na karishyasi I
tatah svadharmam kirtimcha hitva papam avapsyasi II sloka 33
अथ चेत त्वं इमं धर्म्यं संग्रामं न करिष्यसि ।
ततः स्वधर्मं किर्तिम्च हित्वा पापं अवाप्स्यसि ।। श्लोक ३३

But if you will not wage this righteous warfare, then forfeiting your own duty and honour, you will incur sin.

Self annihilation is the wage of sin. Greater than that is the fall of man who fails to do in time his duty that is based on righteousness. Omission of doing the right thing is more potent for evil, than the commission of the bad thing.

Fame and honour attend on the person who lives the life on earth well. Conversely, ill fame and dishonour come on the person who lives a life of evil on earth . This is explained in the next sloka.
