1 Gita Sloka Every Day - Chapter 14 - Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga - Sloka 14
Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal |
Yada sattve pravruddhe tu pralayam yati deha bhrutam I
Tada uttama vidam lokan amalan prati padhyate II sloka 14
यदा सत्त्वे प्रवृद्धे तु प्रलयं यति देह भृत I
तदा उत्तम विदां लोकन् अमलान् प्रतिपद्यते II श्लोक 14
If the embodied one meets with death when sattva is predominant, then he gets to the pure worlds of those who know the highest.
The thought uppermost in the mind at the time of departing the body, is the deciding factor of the next birth of the jivatman. Because of the prevalence of sattva at that juncture, godly thoughts are inevitable. And it reaches the pure worlds, ie. regions conducive to teh knowledge of the self. The purport is this; if sattva preponnderates in aperson at teh time of death, he will be reborn in teh families of those who have knowledge of the self and thus be qualified to perform auspicious acts which are the means of attaining the true knowledge of the self.
